Post Option to disable location display with friends?

I am not sure if it has been posted before or not, but shouldn't there be an option to opt out of the location display for Friend list?

It seems to me that it would become quite a problem for some people when playing on GW, and it would be a hassle to go offline or remove select friends just to not share info with where you are or what you are doing

For example, friend A wants you to join his/her pve session to do something, while you want to do something else, and you say you don't want to because you are busy, instead of just saying no which would be impolite or rude. You shouldn't have to log offline or delete the friend to not share the fact that you are not exactly busy and doing something else in game. Its similar to real life situation where you don't exactly want to do something with a friend, and instead say you are busy to avoid being impolite. It doesn't help if your friend knew what you were up to

My example is a bit rudimentary, but you get the point, I hope there would be an option to disable location sharing when logged online on FL soon

Edit: There seems to be a misunderstanding with my suggestion, I am not asking to have the location display for friends to be removed all together for GW Friend list, I am suggesting a simple option to allow users to disable sharing location info with mutual friends. Completely different thing. As for the example I mentioned above, its a simple case example of what I thought could happen, not that it will happen to everyone in game....

Edit 2: Duranin has another take on the problem, and offers a nice solution, Link

If that's really a friend why cant you just tell him/her that you're not in the mood and you're just "afk-ing" in Kamadan?

I don't have to hide from my friends and I don't have the slightest problem to refuse them if I have something else to do or not in the mood to help.

First of all, it's all about mutual friends, so that means only close friends shuld be added in this category. I always keep my most closest friends in. So this annyoance with "people will see me what i'm doing" its kinda childlish.

Oh yes this is an annoying feature, no reason to have my every move tracked. If they want to know and I want to tell them they can ask.

Even though I like the idea of seeing what my friends are doing I think we should be possible to hide the thing. Just as a matter of 'privacy'. Anyways we can still put our status on offline.

You have the "away" or "do not disturb" option.

Also, grow a pair and learn to tell ppl no instead of making stupid excuses.

I don't see the point of this feature anyway. It's not as if Friend X is going to be able to catch up and join me in Explorable Area Y.

This update inspired me to delete my friends list entirely.

Now if it would just remember my "offline" status setting so that I don't have to select it every time I log in or switch characters.

Not sure what to make of this feature. It doesn't fulfill any need, or solve any problem. If you want to do stuff with friends who reciprocate your listing, you talk to them. If that doesn't convince them, it's not like going and dancing in front of them is the next best thing. (Might even be a nuisance, judging by how many people are already asking to opt out.)

Whatever. As long as it's turned off when you mark yourself as offline, it's alright with me.

As for the motivation to do this: we all have our moments when we want to be left alone. Forcing the sharing of personal information in a MMO environment is seldom a smart thing. Just saying.
